Rugby and English Language Summer Programmes
Junior Summer English and Rugby Programme
Our Junior Summer English and Rugby course is delivered in association with Connacht Rugby.
Connacht Rugby is in the midst of a transformative era heralding unprecedented success.
The course combines English tuition and rugby skills coaching with a variety of social activities and excursions. In the morning, classes will improve grammar, vocabulary, reading writing, listening and comprehension skills as well as building confidence in communicating through English.
All students will undergo a placement test on the first day of the course and placed in a class of the appropriate level. We have developed an extensive new syllabus for each of the 5 course levels ranging from Elementary (A1) to Advanced (C1).
Connacht Rugby is a key player on the world stage. Our players form an integral part of the national team and are part of a wider Renaissance in Irish Rugby.
In the afternoon, students get to witness how the coaching staff prepare for rugby success through teaching skills, conditioning, practice matches and seminars. Strategies for success are shared, personal discipline, teamwork and above all the love of the great game of Rugby. The training ground is situated adjacent to Yeats College Galway Campus.
Connacht plays its home games at the Connacht Rugby training ground which normally holds 7,500 spectators. Connacht Rugby is one of the four professional provincial rugby teams from Ireland. Connacht competes in the Pro 12 and the Heineken Cup.
This course aims to blend the expertise of the teachers of Yeats College with the drive of the coaches in Connacht Rugby.
The team represents the IRFU Connacht Branch, which is one of four primary branches of the IRFU, and is responsible for rugby union throughout the geographical Irish province of Connacht.
